About Us.

“Amantombazana” translated from Ndebele, an indigenous language spoken in Matabeleland provinces of Zimbabwe, means “Girls.”

Our organization aims to transform the lives of underprivileged girls and women in provinces of Bulawayo, Matabeleland North and South in Zimbabwe. We are dedicated to empowering girls and women to alleviate themselves from sustained poverty by advancing their education, and provide girls with opportunities to become future Zimbabwean and global leaders.

Amantombazana is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

 

Our Mission & Vision.

Amantombazana will:

  • Raise awareness on the importance of education to underprivileged girls in Matabeleland.

  • Empower girls and women through education to ensure that they are equipped to make informed decisions about their health and wellness, education and career choices.

  • Provide through education skills to girls to become national and global leaders.

We envision a situation where all girls in Matabeleland, Zimbabwe have equal opportunity to education, health and wellness to enhance their chances of being future leaders nationally and globally.

Our Values.

The values of Amantombazana and those of its founder member are imbedded in the lived philosophical concept of Ubuntu. Ubuntu is that pervasive human spirit of compassion, respect, integrity and self-sufficiency.

Compassion.

Amantombazana is driven by compassion, one of the major qualities of Ubuntu that focuses on extending generosity to underprivileged families and communities. Amantombazana is about uplifting and changing the lives of girls and women through compassionate acts.

Integrity.

Amantombazana believes; as Ubuntu values expect that those entrusted with public trust through people’s compassion and generosity, must not abuse and exploit this value nor detract from it.

Respect.

Amantombazana treats program participants with respect and dignity regardless of their economic and social status as Ubuntu calls for.

Self-sufficiency.

Amantombazana promotes the Ubuntu subculture of “Do-it-yourself” Zenzele for self-sufficiency. Amantombazana discourages the dependency syndrome through educating girls and promoting women’s programs to change their lives.
